The production date of the tire
The production date of a tire is a 4-digit number, with the first 2 digits representing the week of tire production and the last 2 digits representing the year. The tire production date in the picture is the 20th week of 2018, and its lifespan is generally around 5 years. When purchasing tires, be sure to check the production date carefully to avoid buying inventory tires.
Tire installation direction
Look at the markings on the tires. Generally, tires with asymmetric patterns will have an English label "outside" or an arrow pointing to the front of the vehicle in the direction of forward rolling; If there is no mark or arrow pointing, it is recommended to install the side with the production date marked on the outside.
Tire installation direction markings
Directional tires should not be installed in reverse. The tire pattern not only adapts to various dry and humid road conditions, but also quickly drains rainwater attached to the tire surface on rainy days, creating better adhesion with the ground. Installing them in reverse will not be effective, and it will also accelerate tire wear and increase vehicle fuel consumption.
Tire wear marking line
The service life of car tires is generally 5 years or 80000 kilometers, depending on the usage situation. We have already talked about how to check the production date, now let's take a look at how to determine if the tire wear has reached its limit. As shown in the picture, the technician's finger is the wear mark line of the tire. If the tire has been worn to the mark line position, it must be replaced, and the tread depth of the tire should be greater than 1.6mm.
